Hals Strand Camping

Seatrout Limfjorden

Hals Strand Camping is located by the Kattegat coast and only 7 km from the Limfjord’s outlet, and the possibilities for fishing are therefore versatile. In the Limfjord, fishing for sea trout is especially attractive, while the open coast offers fishing for both sea trout, mackerel and various flatfish. Both places have good opportunities for fishing for herring and garfish. There is easy and quick access to the south side of the Limfjord by Egense (ferry) or by Aalborg. Besides the possibility of accommodation in a tent/caravan/camper we also offer accommodation in cabins, mobile homes or one of our apartments. As a certified accommodation for anglers, we can guide you on the local fishing and help with eg. purchase of fishing license. There is the possibility of loading dinghy in the nearby cityes Hals or Hou.

Fishing in the immediate area

The majority of the sea trout that migrate to and from the limfjord’s many streams use kattegat as a birth chamber, and they thus pass through the narrow waters at Hals/Egense. Therefore, many sea trout are also caught on the Limfjord coast in especially spring and autumn when hiking. On the open Kattegat coast, sea trout can be caught all year round and when it is seasoned, fishing for herring, mackerel, garfish and various flatfish is popular. The coast is shallow and in many places there are large eel grasses, so it is recommended to use waders to reach the fish. It is also possible to fish from kayak or boat. You can find more information about fishing in limfjorden, descriptions of the individual fishing grounds, fishing tips and much more under Havørred Limfjorden.

Fishing license

If you are between 18-65, you need to have a fishing license in order to fish with a rod or other equipment in Denmark.

You can buy the license from your smartphone or on www.fisketegn.dk and at many tourist agencies and campgrounds.

Remember to always carry the license with you when fishing.

Did you know that the proceeds from the sale of fishing licenses go to fishingcare:

  • Exposure of fish – eg sea trout and turbot
  • Restoration, which helps the development of fish stocks
  • New knowledge about fish behavior

Throughout the country volunteers and angler association help with the projects.
