Hals Museum, Krudtkammer and Raalingen

Hals Museum is located at the historic redoubt in Hals, which is an old fortification from the Renaissance. The redoubt is a unique relic as it is the only single redoubt in Denmark from this period. The powder magazine dates from the 1600s and the armoury from 1800, but the museum's exhibitions tell the story of the fortification's construction and history in war and peace through time, from its construction in 1625 to its closure in 1848.
The museum also tells the story of Hals during World War II, when the redoubt served as the headquarters of the German commander-in-chief in the area in 1940-1945.
Skovgaards Raalingen in Hou is one of Denmark's oldest privately owned houses and was first registered under King Christian III in 1552.
Raaling means "little farmhouse" in the old Vendsyssel language and is today a unique restaurant concept that offers several different experiences around the property.

The surroundings

Hals Strand Camping is located 6 km from Hals town, which is a lively town with a cosy harbour environment, restaurants, specialty shops and supermarkets. In the square, you can see the giant whale jaw that is the landmark of Hals town.
Hals Golf Club is located in a lovely area consisting of a combined seaside and forest environment.

2 kilometres north of Hals Strand Camping is Hou, which was founded in the Stone Age. The townscape is characterised by a growing influx of artists. The harbour is very attractive and well visited by yachtsmen.
From the piers in Hals and Hou you can catch mackerel, herring and garfish. If you have a boat, you can also fish at sea.

The area has sand dunes and forest plantations with marked path systems for walking, running and cycling. Koldkærskoven, Trekantskoven and Hundeskoven are located almost right next to Hals Strand Camping. The vegetation varies between different deciduous and coniferous trees. Heather, ferns, honeysuckle, honeysuckle, raspberries/blackberries and in autumn many mushrooms grow on the forest floor. There are good opportunities to see deer, hares, squirrels and pheasants.

Pilot's Daughter

Lodsens Datter in Hals invites you outside for lots of wonderful nature experiences and adventures along the beautiful east coast. Here you can try your hand at SUP (Stand Up Paddle), spend the night on the water, go fishing and much more.

On the quay in Hals in the old Pilot House you'll find Lodsens Datter, a place where you can gather the whole family or circle of friends for a day full of cosiness and great company.

Sail away on the blue sea yourself

At Lodsens Datter you can hire a dinghy and embark on an adventure on the water. The dinghy gives you the opportunity for a relaxed trip along the harbour, city and coast and is also perfect for a fishing trip. There's plenty of room on board for all your gear, caught fish and picnic basket so you can spend the whole day on the water. There's also a small tugboat, which might be just the thing for the kids. During your trip you can drop anchor at one of the many sand islands and collect mussels and oysters or take a dip in the clear water.

Stand Up Pattle

If you want to try your hand at Stand Up Pattle (SUP) or take another turn on the board, then Lodsens Datter is the place to go. At Lodsens Datter you can take courses with owner Grete throughout the summer months as a beginner and try out the sport, and as an experienced rider you can rent the whole kit and just go for it.

The charming 'Houseboat'

If you've always dreamed of experiencing what it's like to live on the water, at least for a while, Lodsens Datter gives you the opportunity to do just that on their charming four-person boat. The boat can be rented from a half/full day to several days and is therefore ideal as a day trip or as an alternative accommodation option on holiday. Even if you unfortunately can't go sailing on the boat, a stay here guarantees maritime cosiness.

The little extra

If you need fishing tackle and bait to catch the day's dinner, perhaps equipment for activities for the little ones, a small rowing boat for the kids to row away in or something else entirely, Lodsens Datter will be happy to help you with this too. You can even collar the sandworms yourself and get the full DIY worm experience.
